High Blood pressure – Is it caused by smoking?

High blood pressure is not caused by smoking alone it is not the single factor but it can contribute to it. By smoking you are increasing your chances of getting very bad problems like heart attacks and strokes which can be caused by heart disease. One of the early indicators of heart disease is high blood pressure which is caused by the blood vessels becoming narrower which is caused by smoking. So smoking can contribute to your blood pressure becoming raised and if it does then your doctor will recommend if you are a smoker to quit immediately so that you can lower your blood pressure and also lower your chances of getting heart disease.
You get heart disease by your blood vessels becoming damaged by the chemicals that are in cigarettes and thins is in rolling tobacco too so don’t be fooled into thinking you can get around it that way!! The chemicals by damaging the blood vessels cause your arteries to your heart to begin to harden up which is one of the leading causes of heart disease as the blood is unable to be pumped correctly and as efficiently into the chambers of the heart, which in time can lead to a heart attack and or stroke. For people who do smoke this should be the incentive enough to stop smoking let alone all of the other health benefits that happen when you become a non smoker. If you are thinking of becoming a smoker then don’t as all you are doing is signing your own death warrant for an untimely and early death.
Buy quitting smoking within the first year your blood pressure will drop enough that the risk of getting heart disease and then a heart attack or stroke is halved and for every year after the percentage increase means that after ten to fifteen years the chances of you getting heart disease is the same as if you never smoked in your life. So now you know that smoking and raised blood pressure are related and to avoid this you need to stop. Most people are aware of the risks of cancer and smoking but you are more likely to get heart disease than cancer from smoking. This is a little known fact and the percentage of this happening compared to getting cancer is raised by thirty percent. Artery disease is another problem linked to smoking and by smoking you can increase your chances of getting this disease too.
Most people believe that they are at risk of getting raised blood pressure from having a stressful job, drinking too much and other bad life style choices made by both the young and the old alike but smoking combined with a highly processed diet can accelerate the rate at which your body’s blood cells are being destroyed. Most of us are a ticking time bomb and if this does not make you want to quit right now and change your food and drinking habits then be prepared to get raised blood pressure and in turn heart disease. So give up today and save your own life!!
